A ritually dressed pillar candle full or winter spices & blessed oils to honour the 12 days of Yule. Burn as the days of Yule pass, on the last day light the bay leaf with a wish wrote upon for the coming of the new seasons. 
The age old celebration begins on the eve of the winter solstice, which is around December 21 in the Northern Hemisphere. 
It traditionally lasts for 12 days, ending around New Year's Day. 
The word "Yule" comes from the Old Norse word for "wheel," symbolizing the cycle of the year. Ancient Yule celebrations were important for pre-Christian Germanic and Norse peoples and celebrated the return of the sun after the darkest part of winter.
